Modal filter

Old road filter, cycle signage but no clear path through

A rare Barnet Cycle Hangar

Modal filter

Permitted pavement parking making the footway extremely narrow, people walk in the road.

Traffic calming width restriction and a pair of horses

Cut-through in the chainlink fence

Warning signs on this new road and pavement parking

Sign to discourage people going from cutting across the grass from the pavement

Wheel channel unusable, blocked by handrail

Zigzag ramp with tight corners and steps

3 Parking Stands

Two parking stands

Fence and new kerbs blocking access to Partingdale Lane

Diagonal implied crossing, paint's a bit worn already.

Diagonal implied crossing rather than straight matching the desire line to the stairs

Cycle Network sign

Direction signage

Central island for crossing Marsh Lane

Give way

Cycle exit lane from A1. Looks unused, full of dirt and rubbish

Cyclists dismount and direction signage

Tarmac shared track

Exit lane for any bicycles travelling on the A1 Barnet Bypass who'd like to turn left. Full of grass and dirt

Entrance to golf club, slip road approaching from the north so traffic could be travelling at speed

Worn out SLOW markings on the shared path

Gap to the left of the gate is slightly narrow but straight so useable

Wooden arch over footpath

Footpath signs

Wheel benders, luckily there is other parking nearby

Lots of cycle parking

Excellent width, visibility and surface on this path. Has it's own lighting columns too rather than relying on lighting from the main carraigeway

Becoming overgrown reducing path width and visibility

Slip road type entrance to petrol station. Have to look backwards over the shoulder on a slight obscured view for vehicles entering

Cycle contraflow lane, annoyingly goes over the speed bump heading uphill

Cyclist left turn exit from Baronsmere Road onto the A1000. A little bit narrow by modern standards

Gap in the kerb devider allowing cyclists to turn right into Baronsmere Road. Maybe a bit narrow.

20 new bolt down Sheffield stands intalled into car parking space

Uncovered cycle parking including a bike that's been stripped

Metal dropdown "gate" plates. The cycle parking is behind these so to ride to the cycle parking you have to go over these or walk via the pavement area. Grip seems a bit degraded when wet

Bicycle limbo under the barrier

Bollard and chicane

Wrong sign, it's all shared path here

Bespoke barrier made from KeeKlamp. Some bikes can fit under the rail on the left but wheelchair users (and others) have to go the long way round

Chicane spacing isn't the worst which is good given the weird angles

Chicane with slightly jaunty angles

More than enough space for a cycleway behind the bus stop, wouldn't even have to move the shelter

Gigantic pavement space, you could march an army down this.

Gap to allow cycles to turn right through the kerb separation

Gap to allow cycles to turn right through the kerb separation

Possible space for a cycle path through in parallel to the pavement

New housing development, ideal location for walking/cycling permeability linking up to lcn89

Narrow barrier spacing

A double set of barriers with slightly narrow spacing on the north set

45 degree kerbs. The lack of maintenance is showing though.

Segregated path down towards Lovers Lane.

Some slightly sad looking cycle parking on the western side of Woodside Park station. Could do with being replaced with something closer to the Northbound platform entrance and undercover

Covered Parking close to Woodside Park Station

Overgrown path joining pavement to Mallard Close

Wide concrete footpath with cycling dismount signs

Wide concrete track

Bypassed chicane giving not terrible access

Sign showing that the grass is all shared-use. Not quite clear what this is for. Also points away from the road so can't be seen.

Chicane bypassed by desire line, has a slight lip to road level. Could be repaired to a proper standard quite easily

Poor surface, hasn't been maintained in a great many years

Narrow chicane entering onto a road with an obstructed view.

Walk on the road, cycle on the pavement

Shared path entering the park

Shared path splits into dedicated walking and cycling paths, not signed beyond this point until Totteridge Lane

Entrance to the Dollis Valley Greenwalk, well signed at the entrance

Dollis Valley Greenwalk

London - 5 miles

Missing dropped kerb entering Dollis Valley shared path

Modal filter using plastic bollards

Paint almost completely worn away, no signage at this end of this cycleway

Short extremely neglected cycleway with a ginormous sign at this end

Cyclepath almost completely buried in dirt and debris

Overgrown path through from Cromer Road to the public footpath running alongside the railway embankment

Well trodden desire line now in place past unnecessary barriers

Barrier by-pass

Fly parking due to lack of cycle parking

Lack of cycle parking at Totteridge and Whetstone station, all stands normally full and additional fly parking to nearby signage

Double stack cycle parking

There is no parking at the moment. Me and my neighbours use lamp posts and sign poles to lock bikes over night - that looks terrible.

There are far more bikes parked here than stands so there are many bikes locked to the fence under a sign that says not to. Clearly there is a need for more Sheffield stands, or maybe just remove the sign that bans locking to the fence/rail ... [more]

Soft going for narrow road tyres

Plenty of space for shared-use cycling along Hendon Way

Cycle bridge right through the M1/North Circular interchange at Staples Corner

Now you see it.. The sign was hiding behind another one #32005

Can you see the cycle route sign? It is hidden behind a tree, and a sign less than a metre in front of it facing in the opposite direction stating 'No motor cycles' #32006

Start of Forest Walk - by Muswell Hill Golf Course

New Colney Hatch Lane library - there's space for cycle parking, but none provided.

Eastern entry to Albion Avenue Rec - cycling permitted with pedestrian priority.
